We’re proud to announce that our Christmas morning programme has won Best Children’s Programme for the fourth time at the NZ Radio Awards held in Auckland last night.
Quality radio that tells the true Christmas story
The 3-hour programme was hosted by the winning combination of Bjorn Brickell (one half of Life FM’s Morning Wake Up), Dayna Vawdrey (long-time children’s TV presenter on TVNZ’s Studio 2) and 14-year-old Levi Guyan (blatant nepotistic appointment of the boss’s son). 😉 The star of the show was voice-artist and actor extraordinaire Daryl Habraken, who played the part of Santa in our narrative, which included the team broadcasting live from his sleigh, while flying around the world assisting with his deliveries.
Through Santa’s magical surveillance system (by which he sees you when you’re sleeping…) they even rewound the tape to watch the original Christmas story of a baby born in Bethlehem.
In this way, we leveraged our culture’s modern western Christmas folklore to point our audience towards the real meaning of Christmas.
The show also featured a star-studded line up of NZ celebrities reading children’s stories including Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Mike Hosking and Kerre McIvor.
