Salt – faith in NZ’s media.

Salt is an exciting initiative started seven years ago by CBA to connect and support Christians working within New Zealand’s media, helping them to remain faithful and effective in their workplace.

The growth since then has been extraordinary, as have the positive spin offs.

Dayna on Radio LIVE.

“I love coming alongside ‘Salties’ to support and encourage them with their work, and help them navigate some of the big things that come up at work while staying strong in their faith. These people are a real example of what it means to be salt. When we use salt, it is sprinkled… so when I think about being salt in a workplace, it’s the everyday things that count; how you handle yourself, your integrity and your compassion for people that make a huge difference”

You’ll be pleased to know that there are at least 300 Christians working as producers, directors, presenters, writers, journalists, editors, technicians, web-designers and a vast array of other vital roles within New Zealand’s media.

We’re able to pray for these people, support and uplift them, encourage them in their faith and assure them that – as isolated as they may feel at times – they certainly are not alone.

We offer one-on-one pastoral care and we bring them together for training and networking and, sometimes, we draw on their talents to produce CBA programmes.

We believe more than ever, that Salt is such a strategic part of CBA’s mission. The fruit of this ministry and the synergies with our programming efforts are priceless. Salt is an extremely cost effective way to have a big impact on NZ’s media, but if we are to expand, we need to raise an extra $60,000 to fund salaries, travel, mobile phone, laptop, website development, event expenses, plus basic shared office + administrative costs.

We see a great opportunity to expand the engagement we are having with Salt members throughout NZ, especially to the pastoral care of our Salt members. We plan to increase the number of events we organise for Salt members in Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch.

This year Dayna is working toward growing a Salt community in Tauranga and connecting with Salties in the provinces. We are rebuilding the Salt website from its current ‘page holder website’ and extending our library of Christian resources for Salt members to borrow from.
