Journeying with NZ’s next generation of media stars

Media chaplains Petra Bagust and Rev Frank Ritchie with the 2023 cohort of Te Rito cadets. Our partnership with Te Rito enables us to speak into the lives of the next generation of journalists. •

Our Media Chaplaincy team has recently taken up a fantastic opportunity to journey alongside some of those who will shape New Zealand’s media industry in the years to come.

Earlier this year, we were invited to partner with the Te Rito Journalism Programme, an initiative focused on training and supporting young journalists who reflect the diversity of Aotearoa.

We’ve enjoyed providing chaplaincy to the 12 journalism cadets in this year’s cohort, who are working across NZME, Whakaata Māori, Newshub and the Pacific Media Network.

Te Rito and Media Chaplaincy is a perfect fit, as the programme aims to support these cadets not only professionally, but personally in what can be a challenging industry.

With your support, we will continue to partner with Te Rito in the years to come, allowing us to encourage and speak into the lives of dozens more young journalists – many of whom will go on to become some of our country’s media stars. •

Would you consider donating so we can continue reaching people around the country with the message of God’s goodness?
