“Called to preach the truth”

Season 4 of re_covering, our podcast for RNZ shining a light on New Zealand’s leading journalists and elevating Media Chaplaincy’s profile among media professionals, has been a massive success.

This season, Lead Chaplain Rev Frank Ritchie (pictured above left) interviewed Heather du Plessis-Allan (Newstalk ZB), Mark Crysell (1News), Shayne Currie (NZ Herald), and Lisette Reymer (Newshub), delving into the stories that have profoundly shaped their lives and careers.

Our own Elesha Gordon also featured, reflecting on her career in journalism and how it compelled her to support media professionals as General Manager of Media Chaplaincy. And two members of our Salt network for Christians in media were interviewed – Stuff’s Abigail Dougherty and 1NEWS’s Indira Stewart (pictured above right).

Indira reflected on how her Christian faith influences her journalism, stating, “When I take [Isaiah 61] and apply it to my career, I’m called to preach the truth… and the truth sets people free.” •
